Mornin’

theroadtoslimcity:

Today is a new day…

Today is full of possibilities…

Today you can do anything you set your mind to…

Today you are amazing.

9:57 AM

I made a loop!

I’m usually pretty boring and just do there-and-back’s, but I whipped this up this morning! I love the commons and running by the water, so it should be lots of fun :)

I’ll report back after and tell you how it went!

Yesterday’s 5k! :)

was great! Nike+’s side of the story:

Me and the old man:

We really ran it together this time! It was just fantastic. We really gave it our all, and there were some pretty intense hills. So fun. So great to spend time with my dad, too. We got breakfast after, one of our favorite things.

I’ll be back with our official times soon as they’re out :)

Debating squeezing in a 2 mile run today before doing my 6 miles tomorrow morning. I ran pretty hard yesterday. Hmm.

5k today with my dad!

So excited! I’ll be back with results later :)

Another ridiculously early run…just me, the city, and the unfortunate individuals who are walking to work at 6:30 AM

Those huge dips are intersections where I had to wait for a light to change so I could cross the street hahah. Oh the joys of city running.

These runs have been an absolute godsend during finals/reviews week. I’m stressed out beyond words, and these runs take my mind off of it, even if it’s only for a half hour. I got scheduled to work today from 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM though, which means I won’t have time to get much any homework done. It’s good money right before Christmas though! I’ll tell everyone Happy Holidays and see if I can weasel some tips out of them. Whuuahaha.

Anyways. Rest day tomorrow, and 5k with Dad on Sunday!

Maybe I should have gone to school to be a running major, obviously I’m doing more running than school work. x_x At least I’ll be fit working at a McDonalds for the rest of my life…that doesn’t sound too bad at the moment actually…

Hey Ally! I have a question! I want to tone my body but I don't have access to a gym. I only have my room space, and a wii fit. What exercises could you recommend for me to try? Thanks! And Congrats on the weight loss by the way! :D

Hi! And thanks! =]

I’m in the same boat actually- my college’s gym has been mysteriously under construction for over a year lmao. Anyways.

Pushups and crunches sound wicked lame but really can work wonders; that’s all I’ve been doing for cross training and I’m definitely getting stronger. I also really recommend Jillian Micheal’s 30 Day Shred DVD- I never could stick with it for 30 days (it’s intense!!) but all you need are some little hand weights (mine are 5 pounds since I’ve got noodle arms) and she’ll kick your but in 20 minutes haha. That DVD is pretty cheap on Amazon.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

December 8th
9:27 AM

Started off today with an awesome 4 mile run :)

Look at that consistent pace haha- must have had the cruise control on.

Dad and I are doing another 5k this Sunday! So excited. Not only am I hoping to get my PR down to 27-28 minutes, but it’ll be nice to take a break from studying. Finals are driving me crazy, plus I have reviews for my department- oh the joys of being an art student!

Oh well, it’ll all be over in a week! In the mean time, 3 days till the race! :)

I remember last New Year’s Eve vividly, kind of.  I purchased an all-you-can-drink package at a bar near my apartment with about 40 friends.  My intention was to have a few glasses of champagne and enjoy the company.  In actuality, I drank entirely too much, left the bar crying before midnight, and although I can’t quite recall it, I tucked myself into bed with three double cheeseburgers.  I was obese and depressed with a drinking problem to boot.  This New Year’s Eve will be different.I am no longer obese, no longer depressed, no longer a drinker, and in 2011, I have made more amazing friends than I ever expected.  Two of these friends, Anna and Brenna, are taking the time and spending the money to ring in 2012 by my side in Chicago.  We’re planning on watching movies, being tourists, enjoying the weather, ringing in the New Year, and of course, sticking to our marathon training schedule.  We’re running 14 miles at midnight on New Year’s Eve.  And we want you to join us.  With a little inspiration from the masterminds behind Soaring Wings, we’ve created a virtual race: Race Epic.  Run any distance you want, wherever you want, as fast as you want.  Run by yourself.  Run with a friend.  Walk.  But join in on the fun.  To me, this isn’t just another run.  This is a celebration of the greatest single year of my life, in fact, the year I actually started living my life.  This is a commitment to making 2012 even better, even healthier, even more epic.So check Race Epic out, and tell me, what will it mean for you?

I was just talking to the Smit about a run that night… but THIS makes it so much more. I mean… it’s Claire. You can’t say no to that face.

Registered!!! Such a great idea, thanks Claire!!

Oh my God. Totally gonna register for this. RIGHT. NOW. I love you guys.

It doesn’t mean that you are doing something wrong if you are unhappy, but taking small steps towards happiness is better than nothing at all. Your mind is stronger than you think. Don’t accept your negative thoughts as your reality.

One of my favorite quotes ever.
